What is your dream job?
After I graduate from Tourtellotte Memorial High School, I plan to work throughout the summer and then attend the University of Connecticut. At the University of Connecticut, I will study Animal Science and hopefully follow the Pre-Veterinary track. I hope to become a Veterinarian in the future.

Who was your favorite teacher or administrator during your time at TMHS? What subject did they teach? What made her or him special?

During my time at TMHS, my favorite teacher is Debra Spinelli. She was my soccer coach and gym teacher during my sophomore year. Throughout my four years, I have grown a relationship with her. She is absolutely hilarious and it is funny to listen to all of the stories she tells. This year I am her intern for the Athletic Department. She recently nominated me for the Integrity Plus Award.

What is something about TMHS that people might not know, but should?

Every one that has not been to TMHS believes that it is a small and “crappy” school. Yes, it might be small, but it is one of the best schools anyone could go to. Because it is small, I was able to grow relationships with all of my teachers and not only ask for help, but never be left behind on a subject. As long as you put the effort in, you can receive a great education.

What advice would you give to next year’s ninth grade students coming to TMHS?

I would like next year’s incoming freshman to know that as long as you work hard, an education at this high school will pay off. Make friends, have fun, and do not stress too much. Make relationships with teachers and get involved in sports and clubs. You will not regret or forget the experiences that you will have in high school.

What makes TMHS special? Why?

TMHS is an extremely special place. For one, they allow a lot of senior privileges that other schools do not allow. Also, every year this school is changing and developing for the students. We have amazing programs that allow for the student voice to be heard. Since my freshman year so much has changed. I cannot even imagine what it will be like for you guys. Probably even better!

Jennifer’s teachers say…

Jennifer is a dedicated student-athlete who comes to school every day and does her best. Balancing sports with a class load of AP and Honors classes is not easy, but she does it without complaint. As one of the leaders of the school, she provides an excellent example for underclassmen as to how they should approach life at Tourtellotte both in and out of the classroom.
