“Don’t be afraid to get involved. We have so many sports teams, after school clubs, and leadership opportunities that there’s something for everyone to be involved in. Also if we don’t offer a club or activity that you want to participate in, teachers are great about helping you start a new club.”Haley Fettig
College: Springfield College
Major: Physical Therapy
What is your dream job? I plan on going to college for physical therapy. In my career I hope to work with injured athletes in pursuing a career at a sports medicine facility.
Who was your favorite teacher or administrator during your time at TMHS? What subject did they teach? What made her or him special?
My favorite teacher at TMHS is Mrs. Tupaj. I have taken three of Mrs. Tupaj’s business courses over my high school career, computer applications, accounting, and marketing, and have enjoyed every minute in her classroom. Mrs. Tupaj helped me to choose which college would be best for me and pushed me to go to school for my doctorate and not to settle for anything less because she believed I could do it.
What is something about TMHS that people might not know, but should?
Something that people might not know about TMHS is that we have various opportunities to receive college credit. Not many schools in our area offer college credit without taking AP courses, but Tourtellotte has various courses that are eligible for college credit.
What advice would you give to next year’s ninth grade students coming to TMHS?
Don’t be afraid to get involved. We have so many sports teams, after school clubs, and leadership opportunities that there’s something for everyone to be involved in. Also, if we don’t offer a club or activity that you want to participate in, teachers are great about helping you start a new club.
What makes TMHS special? Why?
What makes TMHS special is that there is no other school around that is as close as Tourtellotte is. Everyone in our school is like a family, and the teachers are so close with students.
Haley’s teachers say…
Haley is a patient listener, courteous to her peers and leads by example. She challenges herself with a difficult course load rather than taking what she calls the “easy way out”. Haley is also actively involved in many extra school activities, such as NHS, FBLA, Leadership, yearbook and prom committee. She LOVES ATTENDING TOURTELLOTTE and feels that many students are “missing out by choosing not to attend this school”.
