The TMHS Music Department and Drama Club members traveled to New York City to experience an authentic learning opportunity in which music, theater, dancing and city living comes together~BROADWAY! 80 students and parents were treated to a double decker coach bus (with a glass ceiling perfect to view the skyscrapers!), a question and answer session with two cast members from The Phantom of The Opera Show at Chelsea Studios, first hand views of Manhattan, lunch in Times Square, and balcony seats to watch The Phantom of the Opera show in the Majestic Theater! A fabulous time was had by all in attendance!
Attending any type of live musical performance is beneficial in the development of the students’ overall musicality and active listening skills. It also provides a model of real world musical expectations from professionals in the musical field. This type of authentic musical exposure can inspire us all to strive for our dreams, try our best to fulfill those dreams, and understand the know how to make those dreams a reality.
